Ulrich and Yumi being "translated" into the real world in Bragging Rights.

Translation, referred to as Teleportation in the English dub, is a function of the Skidbladnir. It is the process which Jeremie uses to materialize a Lyoko Warrior from the Skid to any location in the real world that is near a Replika Supercomputer.

Overview of the Process

This function is similar to the Energize procedure, as it causes the person's structure to be taken apart and reassembled elsewhere. However, unlike energizing, which causes the virtual avatar to crackle with electricity, Translation briefly makes the virtual shell de-pixilate before vanishing instantly. The Skid must be docked at a tower activated by Jeremie in order for the procedure to work. Translation is a time sensitive procedure. The function itself can only keep any given Lyoko Warrior materialized on Earth for roughly thirteen minutes, before they are presumably forcibly brought back to the Skid.

Upon arriving on Earth, the Lyoko Warrior is materialized as a specter in the shape of their virtual manifestations instead of their real human forms, retaining access to all of their Lyoko weapons and abilities. While materialized in this way, Jeremie can still communicate with them and run programs pertaining to them such as the Laser Arrow Reload System, like they were still on Lyoko. Non-lethal damage that a Lyoko Warrior takes while in this form causes him or her to briefly de-pixelize, like one of X.A.NA.'s specters would when attacked, but otherwise suffer no permanent effects of the damage other than life point loss. If a Lyoko Warrior is defeated in the real world in their Lyoko form, they are teleported back into the Skid, unconscious. Seemingly, they won't come back unconscious if de-translation was done through commands via the lab interface. What's more, the life point count they hold when translated exists completely independent from their count on Lyoko, making any damage they suffer on Earth not carry over to negatively impact their performance in the virtual world.

If a Lyoko Warrior possessed by XANA enters the Code: X.A.N.A. into the tower interface the Skid is connected to, it immediately turns control of the tower over to X.A.N.A. This allows him to cut the Skid's connection to the real world and by extension forcibly de-translate anyone who is currently translated. This was demonstrated in Forest Replika in Lab Rat, where X.A.N.A. seized control of Jeremie's tower, disconnecting Aelita and Odd's access to his Amazonian lab which forced the group to abort their mission.

At some point after this, X.A.N.A. had developed his own process of translation. Whether that be through reverse engineering Jeremie's process or developing it independently is never established, but he demonstrates this ability via tower activation in Hard Luck, where he translates Kankerlats on mass to harass Ulrich and Yumi in the New Mexico lab, and later X.A.N.A.-William to apprehend Yumi and Odd in the Siberian lab.
